Inside Jewish mythology, Javan (Hebrew יָוָן, Standard Hebrew Yavan, Tiberian Hebrew Yāwān) was a 4th boy of Noah's third son Japheth. He was believed to keep around been a primogenitor of the Greeks through his sons Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim; "Ionia" was said to have been from either his title, & a Greek united states was referred to as "Javan" in the Eastern Mediterranean. (Greek mythology traces the title "Ionia" to Ionas, a boy of Apollo.)
